Eastern Phoebe

Sayornis phoebe

Description:

Hopefully I didn't mess up the colors on this one. This is the most common flycatcher found here and a year-round resident. They are well known for sitting on perches like this, "hawking" for insects. They'll sit until they see an insect in flight and will dive out into the air, catching their meal mid-flight.

Habitat:

Woodland edge
