Hovea graniticola
Hovea graniticola, commonly known as "granite hovea", is an Australian native that belongs to the family Fabaceae. This spotting was a mere seedling, but it has the potential to become a shrub of up to 2.5 metres. The flowers are a rich lilac to purple colour, and a typical "pea" shape. Flowering usually occurs between August and September. PS: The name of this national park is Girraween, which actually means "place of flowers".
Spotted along the Underground Creek Track in Girraween National Park, southeast Queensland. Dry sclerophyll forest with sandy granite soils, well-shaded area with substantial undergrowth and accumulated leaf litter. Heavy dew this morning. Here's some park info - http://www.rymich.com/girraween/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girraween_...
An excellent local reference site with photos.... http://www.rymich.com/girraween/index.ph... NB: A second species considered for ID was Hovea purpurea, but there's no listing for it in my usual plant references.
