Syntarucus plinius
This butterfly is common throughout Sri Lanka to almost the highest elevations of 6000 feet without much rain. It is a common sight in drier parts of the country. It is a strong flier but most of the time it’s congregated around mud puddles or moist areas with the company of its similar species.
larvae feeds on Plants of the Legume family, Plumbaginaceae and some of the citrus family Rutaceae such as Sesbania bispinosa, and family Fabaceae, Indigofera spp. Also it feeds among the flower-buds of Plumbago.
