cattle egret

Bubulcus ibis

Description:

In this autumn I was passing my vacations in my farm house and, during a heavily foggy morning, I sighted these egrets in my fields. Luckily during the day the fog lifted and I was able to capture them in the full daylight. There were some 20 individuals and the moment they saw me they all flew away in a single packed group. These birds are often seen associated to farm animals, but they also love standing behind the tractors during tillage because all the worms are exposed.

Habitat:

Agricultural fields
