Green Citrus Locust

Melicodes sp.

Description:

Acrididae, Catantopinae; Melicodes sp. This specimen was exactly 9 cm. long from its head (not including the antennae) to its wing tips.

Habitat:

This Green Citrus Locust was sitting on a young Lime Tree (Citrus aurantifolia), locally known as a Dayap Tree, in our backyard. My wife spotted it and came into the back porch where I was enjoying a coffee and suggested I might want to take a picture of a big Grasshopper and that is exactly what I did.
