Teloschistes chrysophthalmus
Bright orange lichen growing on a twig that looks more like something I'd expect to find in the ocean. Growth consisted of discs of 1-3mm diameter, with inward curling edges fringed by bristly "hairs". I don't know anything about lichens (it's a lichen, right?), hoping someone more knowledgeable than I can ID it.
Semi-arid region with thick scrub, outside Santiago de Querétaro in central Mexico, at around 1800m above sea level.
Awesome! Thanks, Mark. I know next to nothing about these organisms, reading up on it is very interesting, though.
Felix, a similar lichen from the forests of Uttarkashi India.

At first glance, Felix, this appeared to be a coral reef organism. I do not know what it is, but an interesting spotting.
