A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Falco peregrinus
A successful release! :) My favorite Bird of Prey. I really wanted this one to make it so I'm happy I got to photograph and handle him one last time before he flew 100 ft up into the air, flew a few circles in the middle of the grasslands and took of into the distance. He was at the Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue for 3 months with a broken wing after being hit my a car. The juveniles particularly have beautiful peachy/redish plumage. Yeha I'm also not to thrilled about my ISO setting. 3rd picture taken with my cell phone camera when he first came into the center!

You're telling me! It sounds like you know what it's like.
i wish every raptor could have a quick, comfortable, and successful release.

hello all! picture update (last one in the series).
Thank you Dixie :)
Beautiful!
Haha! you're telling me :) but yeah i wish i could be there more its awesome. i'm stoked because we're in the middle of building a new Raptor Recovery Center there but it's going to take a while. the base is built. Massive, 3 flight hallways with 2 turns and i think 12 aviaries? cant wait :D
Wow! That's a big facility! Very neat place to be doing your studies and volunteer work! I think you've chatted with Emily Marino...she and I are photography buddies and I volunteer with her at the Birds of Prey Foundation in Colorado. Best day of my week is cleaning out cages...feeding...and looking a raptor in the eye! It's definitely fascinating to care for wild animals - you never know what to expect!
Thanks Christy! and yes I am :) Its where I do my Vet. Tech. and mountain lion training/conservation stuff.
Fantastic!! I LOVE a good release story! Joshua, are you a volunteer there??
