Super cool that this bird is banded, that way you always know it's the same one! I think originally you thought that your other two spottings were two separate birds. Super exciting it's the same guy! I will live vicariously through your photos for now!

I'm so excited this guy came back! God he's gorgeous!!! I know you were lucky enough to spot 2 dark morph RTH last year, right? Will you post a link to the other spotting if you think it's the same bird?! This bird is drop dead gorgeous! I love seeing the pics!

I just found a dark morph RTH in my area on Sunday. He was very nervous and very far away. He didn't let me get close. :( Keep your fingers crossed that I get some beautiful pics too, just like yours!

Haha that'd be sweet. My brother lives in Texas so maybe who knows.

I would say I have lots of red-tails here too, but I've gotten in the routine of taking the same route every time I bird, so I see the same red-tails so I don't take pictures of them anymore. The day I saw the prairie falcon and juv cooper's on my usual route was incredible since I rarely see anything besides kestrels and red-tails. And thanks :) I've gotten really into photography lately and try to take the best pictures I can of everything I see, especially if I don't know what it is. I really enjoy them! If you ever make it out to Texas, let me know! I'll give you a tour :)

Hahaha that's funny because I feel spoiled with how many Red-Tails are in my area, (although I love them!) so I try to photograph more rare or endangered raptors lately. but of course they're much harder to find ;p but i feel like you and Emily really have something going by trying to make every shot of every raptor worth while.

I'm not sure I would call her a ferug, but red-tail definitely would not be the first thing to pop in my head! But that's why I always have my camera, then if I can't ID, others can :) Finding a hawk is always exciting, no matter what it is!

Yeah Ashley she's beautiful :) there was some discussion on the last entry on whether or not she was actually a Ferruginous Hawk.

Very cool! Besides normal red-tails, I have only seen light morphed ones. I wouldn't even think this was a red-tail if I saw it! It's beautiful :)
