Savannah Sparrow

Passerculus sandwichensis alaudinus

Description:

Small sparrow with short forked tail, a short yellow streak before the eye and crown of feathers on it's head that look like a crest. streaky back and chest and pale belly. Yellow bill and long toes. Some will show a spot on it's chest similar to the Song sparrow.

Habitat:

Some maybe found in fields, meadows and grasslands. This one is more coastal and can be found in tidal saltmarshes and estuaries.

Notes:

Spotted in state park near a shoreline in marshland.
