This common and widespread honeyeater is a gregarious visitor to every garden. They make an aggressive display when protecting their nest and will aggressively out-compete most other native species for nesting sites.

Since the hot spell has devastated the beetles and other arthropods, I have changed my lenses and become a bird watcher. Of course I love birds but my eyesight and patience are not adequately strong to be much good at this extremely rewarding sport. I shall return soon enough with my macro lens
