On plants growing alongside a mowed trail surrounded by woods, with a fresh water lake (Lake Emma) on one side

Nailed it! Thank you sooo much, bayucca! How interesting to learn that the females lay their eggs in the grass and that the little (fourth-instar) caterpillars hibernate...It gets so cold up here in winter, I'm surprised they survive. Love their name, too! :-)))
