Regulus ignicapilla
It is the smaller bird of this region, 9 cm. long. Easy to distinguish by the crest which is bright yellow in the female and mainly orange in the male and by a black eye stripe and a long white supercilium. Now in winter they have a bad time. To survive they join mixed flocks with long-tailed tits, common tits and tree creepers, moving continuously from tree to tree and bush looking for food. During the rest of the year it is very difficult to see them since they prefer to feed at the top of the trees .
Typically in conifer woods. Spotted in a pine tree and Holm oak forest
In third and fourth picture both male and female are shown. Camera Model: NIKON D300. Exposure Time: 1/125 sec.; f/5.6; ISO Speed Rating: 400. Focal Length: 300.0 mm.
