Cairina moschata
Three female ducks Dark black body with lighter heads reanging from white with black speckles of black to black with white speckles. Generally lacking the wattles typical of Muscovis.
Located on the bank of a fresh water retention pond in an office park.
I spotted these three "gals" sitting next to the bank, unmoved by my approach. I had a feeling they were attending nests but none were apparent. Oddly this is the first weekend I have noticed that no matter which pond I came upon there were no males ducks. I also took these three "girls'" picture because I had some vague thought that they my not be Muscovi's so I tagged them as needing help to ID. I have not seen Muscovi's without the wattles that they are known for.
