American Robin

Description:

The American robin is 8-11 inches in length and has a wingspan of 12-16 inches. The male American robin has dark gray or brown back and wing feathers and reddish-orange chest feathers. The females have the same color pattern, but she is a little duller in color.

Habitat:

Wildlife habitat yard.

Notes:

The American robin eats a wide-variety of foods including fruits and berries, worms, grubs and caterpillars. In winter, its diet is made up largely of berries. it is often seen on lawns in the morning looking for earthworms. American Robins sometimes wade belly deep in water to catch very small fish. They also will catch insects in the air, as well as off the ground.
