Marasmiellus Rot

Marasmiellus inoderma (Berk.) Singer

Description:

Several small white to pale yellow mushrooms. Caps white, translucent toward margin, sometimes pale yellow toward center, smooth (translucence allows ribbed appearance–gills show through), flat to slightly sunken, margin concave nearest stem, 18 x 14 mm. Stem off center (eccentric), equal, curved, length 10 mm, diameter 2 mm. Gills white, distant, descending. (Measurements are for largest individual, which was collected for closer observation and imaging.)

Habitat:

Suburban neighborhood on mesic, tropical, insular lowland plateau.

Notes:

Spotted growing from the side (and underside) of a dead palm frond. The ID was developed at Mushroom Observer (.org). I followed up online and discovered that in Hawaii this species is a cause of fungal rot in banana crops.
