Thank you so much Albert for your ID and thank guys for your comments. Apart from what I think are two parasitic bugs, this guy was quite healthy and lively but showed no sign of wanting to defend itself. I guess when a bug is bright red it always pays to be a bit cautious though!!

Am not sure if their bright colours signify toxicity to warn predators against eating them.

However, some species of Phasmid, including this one have other defence mechanism with the capability to spray liquid from glands behind their head.

One species from US; American Walking Stick (Anisomorpha bupestroides) have a defensive chemical spray which can cause temporary blindness and considerable pain to an adult

This is an adult Male.
When at nymph phases, they are black and yellow in colours.
