Description:

Hard large grayish polypore along the trunk of a birch tree, underside had aged brown, firm surface.

Habitat:

along the trunk of a birch tree, about 5 or 6 of them. In the North 40 area of Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn, NY.

Found as part of Jamaica Bay BioBlitz 2010. Person in the photo is Laura of NY Mycological Society leading the fungi walk Saturday morning.
