Note the lack of gray/yellow at base of bill. I also realized that it was noticeably smaller than its greater counterpart. State lifer.

Just a fun fact... The Lesser sandpiper's beak is equal length to it's head. The Greater, on the other hand, has a larger beak than head. Cool spotting!
