Darner Dragonfly- female

Austroaeschna sp

Description:

A medium-sized dragonfly, which looked predominantly black (with bluish-tinge) with pale cream and brown markings on thorax and abdominal segments. Wings clear with cream/white pterostigma

Habitat:

damp eucalyptus forest. Spotted resting high on fronds of a tree fern near creek. This genus is restricted to eastern Australia except for one species which is found in south-western Australia.

Notes:

It was not possible to get a better shot of this dragonfly as it was a distance away and down a gully. This species inhabits rivers and streams. I will need to research further to confirm the ID
