A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Ypthima stellera
Early morning is the time they show the brown upperside of the wings. The butterflies are using the surface of their wings to soak in and absorb the heat from the sun to give them energy. The forewings have a large, bi-pupilled, yellow-ringed subapical ocellus. The hindwings has often 4 yellow ringed ocelluses. (Should have been 5 rings, 2 pairs plus 1 small).
