Aquila hastata
A vulnerable species as per the IUCN. A stocky, medium-sized eagle with short, broad wings and a rather short tail. Adults are essentially brown. The gape has 'lips' that are extensive and fleshy and extend to the middle of the eye. The nostril is round. The legs appear longer and thinner due to the tarsii being less thickly feathered.
Seen at a grassland.

Thanks for raising the issue about the spots Joshua. Even I was confused till I read the following on Wiki: After about three or four months the young birds are glossy brown with the tips of the head and neck feathers being creamy and giving a spotted appearance. The upper tail coverts are light brown with white giving a barred appearance. The median coverts have large creamy spots. After about eighteen months the bird moults and becomes a darker shade and has less spots. Some older juveniles, unlike the Lesser and Greater species, are not strongly spotted at all, making the common name somewhat misleading.
great spotting Satyen! beautiful eagle, man. looking for the spots though! any more info on that?
Thanks Atul and Sachin! Jemma you are right, this could be confused with the black kite. I have uploaded the second pic for a better understanding of the ID. The tail of the Black Kite is different from the tails of Eagles. I hope this helps :-)
lovely !
could this be confused with the black kite that flies around?
Very nice capture,
Thanks Gerardo!

Thanks Argy!
Great shot Satyen. Congrats.
