Black Carpenter Ant

Description:

All castes of the black carpenter any colony are either a black or a blackish color. Not all colony members are the same size as each other. Black carpenter ants forage up to 100 yards in search of food. They're most active at night. They create chemical trails so they know their way back to their colony. Black carpenter ants do not sting, but give a sharp bite. When they bite, they inject formic acid that would later on irritate the human's skin. Black carpenter ants are very territorial and have no mercy on other ants.

Habitat:

Black Carpenter Ants are indigenous to dead, damp wood because that's where they would build their nest. They are known in the United States for infesting houses.
