Thanks Lauren and Leanne. Lauren I think the ants are called harvester ants. Not sure about the correct common and scientific name. Will do sone research and find out more.

How unique! I've never seen a nest entrance like this in the Americas. Do you know which species of ant it is? It should be looked at by a BBC team!
