Squash vine borer

Melittia cucurbitae

Description:

Orange and black with distinct spots. Hairy legs and wings had a little shine to them.

Habitat:

Pumpkin patch!

Notes:

Thought he was kinda cute until I found out he may have been plotting to destroy my pumpkins. I have six plants that are for decorating purposes, so this guy is lucky to have found a hospitable gardener.
