Azure Hairstreak

Hemiolaus caeculus

Description:

Small butterfly, wings just 3cm long, fully white when wings are closed, with black edges, and false eye spots on the rear. When wings open... amazing blue. Black edges along the blue side also with some dark red eye spots along the rear edge. Body is white and face with big red eyes.

Habitat:

Seen on the sand on the beach, at the forest edge.

Notes:

He is Deudorix spp.... but I don't know which one. Nup, he is a Hairstreak, pretty sure he is the Azure Hairstreak
