This is some sort of seed dispersal for the tree. It is basically a root, but then the seeds and its pod hang off of it. Its green the pods are about 8 inches long. The seed are one centimeter large.

I would suggest you use a picture of the leaves of this plant, too. I have a good idea of what it is, but your leaf description will help a lot.
