Eastern Garter Snakes

Thamnophis sirtalis

Description:

A common medium sized snake that can grow from 2-4 feet long. Found two garter snakes together. Larger one: 18-20 inches long. Smaller one: More yellow and 12 inches long. Variable in color, but basically brown, black, tan, yellow.

Habitat:

Open woodlands 3 feet from small brook.

Notes:

Photos #1, 3, and 6 (Larger snake). Photos #2 and # 4 smaller snake. Photo #5 both together. See video of larger snake only. This is the first time I spotted 2 snakes together.
