Description:

Hard round fungus with dark center all the way to the outside with a reddish ring just inside a white ring that is on the outer edge

Habitat:

Found on a large, dead log along a jungle trail (700 masl) in the Amazon rainforest of SE Ecuador.

Thanks Mark. I know all the angles to take pictures of reptiles and amphibians for identification purposes but never thought about identifying organisms like these when the picture was taken. Now I know. Feel free to give any other tips for identification that my photos are lacking. I'm old, but not too old to learn :-)

Reminds me of Coltricia sp. (?Coltricia perennis) but we would need to see the underside.
