Common Seadragon

Phyllopteryx taeniolatus

Description:

Vividly coloured, very long and tapered, delicately finned, spiney/bony fish.

Notes:

Dead specimen found washed up at the hide tideline on seashore of a nature reserve (Broulee Island). Freshly deceased since colours are still vivid like a live specimen. Has most likely been nibbled on or buffeted by the rocks since the snout, one eye and weedy fins are severely damaged/absent. aka Weedy Seadragon, Lucas' Sea-dragon, Weedy Sea Dragon
