Cardinalis cardinalis, Spinus tristis, Carpodacus mexicanus
The cardinal is red all over with a black mask on the face. The goldfinch is in the process of transitioning to breeding plumage. His body is gray, head is yellow, and wings are black. The black cap is starting to appear, and there are white bars on the wings. The male house finch is drab brown all over with a red head and chest, and the female (you only see her back) is gray-brown all over.
The watering spot at the feeders in Palo Duro Canyon SP was a popular spot today! The cardinal was bathing and the rest were drinking. Area located in a mixed woodlands, and these three species are regular visitors to the feeding station.

Lovely series!
This will be a nice children's story :-)
Haha thanks Yuko! I like your story :) It was a warm day, and I bet all the birds were enjoying the water and sun after the sleet we got earlier in the week!
Cute spotting! Looks like the finches are complaining at the cardinal that he is hogging the bath all to himself. And the cardinal is like "Do you think I even care?!" and splashes the water all over. :-)
