Description:

Family: Nymphalidae. Genus: Nymphalis. A powerful flier. Wingspan: 62-75 mm. Reddish/brown wings with gorgeous iridescent blue or purple spots and white fringe (like a petticoat). Single-brooded and hibernate as adults. Adult food: Mostly sap. Hosts trees: mostly willow trees.

Habitat:

Open woodlands with 98% deciduous trees.
