Pheucticus ludovicianus
Male adults have black upper bodies, white bellies, bright red chest, and white markings on wings. Adult females have dark grey-brown upper bodies, dark wings and tail, a buff belly with black streaks, and a buff stripe on top of the head.
These birds breed in the northeastern and midwestern US, and much of Canada. They winter in central America. During the spring, they migrate through the southeastern and midwestern US.
