Lorquin's admiral

Limenitis lorquini

Description:

Easily recognized by the orange tips on the forewings and the white spots. I often find these butterflies sitting on vegetation on sunny perches along creek beds, until another butterfly comes by, then it chases it away.

Habitat:

Spotted on vegetation next to the Umtanum creek.
