Viola tricolor
Heart-shaped, toothed, green leaves and purple, white and yellow-coloured flowers, about 15-30cm in height. This is how colors should look like if my camera was better: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/119...
Europe, North America. Grows in well-drained, moist, humus-rich soil in sun or partial shade. Grassland, waste ground.
Other names: love-lies-bleeding, wild pansy; slovenian=divja vijolica. // If you take an old herbal books in your hands, you can see that it was highly appreciated. Its name "tricolor" refers to its distinctive, three-colored flowers, combining purple, white and yellow (but it's hard to see that in this picture, because of bad camera-take a look at this plant in one of my other spottings).// From this flower the gardeners raised many forms of ornamental pansies, but those are not used in medicine. Wild pansy is very effective for skin conditions in infants and children. It is a herb with a long history of romantic connotations, used as a love charm, as a heart cordial and to cure broken hearts. Medicinal applications for this plant include treating eczema, soothing rheumatic pains and, in syrup form, as a cough medicine. It is a mild diuretic and can be used to cleanse the body and stimulate the metabolism. This flower can be, besides making a tea or syrup out of it, added to salads, used to garnish dishes or frozen in ice cubes to decorate drinks.

they're really rare in wild-i've seen it like 3 times so far, but was amazed at their beauty every time and too scared to pick them up and season my salad with them :)
