Histrio histrio
This is a juvenile Sargassum Frogfish - Histrio histrio, around 2 cm in size. They get the name from the habitat they lives on i.e. floating Sargassum sea weeds. They are very well camouflaged among the Sargassum sea weeds they lives on. They hunt/feed by being motionless and ambushing their prey i.e. fish fry that takes shelters under the floating Sargassum sea weed.
Found among floating Sargassum Seaweed at the surface of the sea. Pic#1 is close-up of it, with blue eyes. Pic#2 shows this tiny juvenile in its habitat i.e. Sargassum sea weed, floating at the sea surface.
