cantharelloid fungus

Trogia straminea

Description:

A solitary mushroom with a deeply funnel-shaped grey cap about 30mm wide. The cap was translucent towards the margins. Gills were white and decurrent with cross-connections of shallow veins (pic #5). Stipe was slightly tinted, delicate and smooth.

Habitat:

Found on forest floor - damp eucalyptus forest

Notes:

A very attractive, delicate-looking mushroom. I am not able to find a suitable web link for information. I have referred to Bruce Fuhrer's guide to Australian fungi. This is a Cantharelloid Fungus (Basidiomycota)
