I know this was a while ago but did you collect this by any chance? and if so do you still have it. I was going through the accessions (unidentified specimens) in the Australian National Insect Collection and I found another one of these collected from Croker Range, Sabah in 1995. I'm pretty sure it is an undescribed species. I would be very interested in getting my hands on more of them, even if it's just a loan.

Very cool!

Thanks for the input Sergio, Juan, Chun and Wilson. I guess we will never know for sure if it is a predatory stink bug, so I've just updated it to stink but with the family. Wilson, nice find with your link, the exact same bug!

mmm, the best way of been sure is a predatory stink bug is to watch the mouth parts. Predatory bugs have a thick "beak". Unfortunately is not visible in these pictures

Dan, it looks like a predatory stink bug. The shape and color pattern (not the color itself) is pretty much like the ones we have here: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/152...
