Smooth-Billed Ani

Crotophaga ani

Description:

The body odor is strong and characteristic, noticeable for us several meters and capable of attracting hematófogos bats and carnivores. It has over a dozen different voices. Prefers moist places. Being a weak flyer, barely resists breeze, any stronger wind takes it away. Likes sun and bathe in the dust, the plumage is often heavily tinged with the color of the land site or gray and charcoal, especially if run before the wet grass.

Habitat:

The Smooth-Billed Ani live in open landscapes with bushes and clumps of grass and gardens.

Notes:

Many people think the "Smooth-Billed Ani" like to eat Ticks in Cows. But in fact, they likes blood. Blood is one of the food more palatable to birds, and the only reason 'cause eat Ticks is 'cause are full of blood. In fact, after eating the Tick, the "Smooth-Billed Ani" continue to peck to open a little more the insect bites and have more blood.
