A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Lasiommata megera
This is a widespread and often encountered butterfly although it never seems particularly common. It is often one of the earliest species to emerge in spring when it sits in the sunshine absorbing heat from the sun and the rocks. Spotted on Ajuga reptans in NP Paklenica
Habitats include forest edges and clearings, shrubby areas in ravines and river valleys and sparse woodlands. Also found in montane habitats up to 0–3,000 metres.
