Redunca arundinum
Game Reserve
A Waterbuck has white stripes by the eyes and a Lechwe has a redder coat and swept back horns. I agree it looks closer to a Reedbuck - the horns appear too straight but that may just be the angle.
I think I have the answer to this for you - as you can tell, it's been bothering me! I believe yours is the Common reedbuck (or Southern reedbuck), identifiable by the dark lines down the front of the legs, which can be clearly seen in your photo.
I've uploaded one of my pics of a waterbuck from the same general region - it's the female (no horns), but you can still see that it really doesn't look like yours!

What would be more likely in terms of distribution is the Waterbuck (Kobus ellipsiprymnus), but these are very distinctive - shaggy fur on the neck and the white ring on the rump. The private reserves do introduce animals from other areas, so ... who knows!

@KateBraun, when the guide pointed it to us, he clearly said it was a Waterbuck and that we were very lucky to see it.
When checking out the distribution of it, I do realized that they may not be that far south in South Africa, but am not sure or familiar with it
Or, could my ID or the guide was wrong?
I was surprised to see this being found in KwaZulu-Natal, as I thought Lechwe were found further north in Africa. Presumably, this species has been introduced into this reserve?
My e-mail alert stopped working, thanks for the update. Just one small thing, if you could add the habitat as that field is quite important. Game reserve will do.
These are the coordinates for the car park
-29.827 30.541
There is a small lake 500 metres west and a large one 1 km west
I already adjust the location to the vicinity based on the location map link from their website, which I posted in my earlier comment.
OK, I have ways of finding places on maps so I'll take a look and comment back if I find it.
On my world trip a few years back I had a GPS and it recorded everything right time so afterwards it was just a case of taking the photo date/time stamp and looking up the coordinates on the GPS and feeding them into google maps. Accurate to within 10' most of the time.
This was spotted on a small lake at Tala Private Game Reserve, its about an hour drive from Durban. Wasn't able to 'find' the actual location of the place and just trying to pin it within the vicinity. You can look up their location map from their website :

Thanks, @Malcom for the info and pointing out the African Jacana.
Will crop it out to post as another spotting, have only this picture of them both together and no other pictures of them separately as after this shot, there were some noises made and Waterbuck ran off causing the African Jacana to move even further away.
Hi Albert, thanks for posting. One of Project Noah's aims is for all users to create a photographic record of every living organism they see, subject to one spotting = "same species, same place, same day". With that in mind perhaps you could also create a spotting of the African Jacana on the shore behind the Waterbuck by cropping it out, unless of course you have other pictures of that which you plan to post later.
Although we are very happy for people to post good pictures so long as an organism is identifiable we will accept it
By the way, I am still trying to figure out from your map pin exactly where this body of water is as the pin is in the middle of trees!
