Mimulus guttatus
Bright yellow flower with 10 red spots on the bottom petal. The leaves are cordate and lobate. plant was about 8 inches tall.
Oak woodland at Daley Ranch.
He he, I do that a lot. Nice series!
Now I think I gave the wrong ID for my own spotting of monkey flower (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/126...). I think mine is Mimulus guttatus as well. I'm going to fix it. :-)
It does look right and is found in our area! Thank you Yuko :)
It's a pretty flower for sure! :-)
I didn't realize there are 150 species of Monkey Flowers. Could it be this maybe?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimulus_gut...
Thank you for the suggestion, Yuko! I looked up that species and it wasn't found in my area but you definitely got the genus! :)
