Spotting

Description:

Help me with identifying this Cicada. It was very noisy.

Notes:

I found it in a isolated section of the library and I did not kill it, dirt was sticking on it all over, so I cleaned the poor thing and left it to rest in some corner. I found it dead the other day. Then I found out that they do not live much longer after waking up from their long 17 years slumber.

Akhil, 17 year cicadas are only found in Eastern North America. Pretty cool looking one you've found, though.

Thanks for those pics - they are much better. That's right about the 17 years Akhil but ONLY for some species. Do you know other cicada species have different cycles but always a prime number !! (3 5 7 11 13 17 19 etc.) Now to find an ID.

Hi Akhil. Can you crop pic to make it look bigger? If so noisy maybe a glorified politician cicada. :)
