Brephidium exilis exilis
These are the smallest butterflies in the world. Wingspan is a half an inch. The wings are a copper color with dull blue near the abdomen. Black spots near the edge and fringed with white. These are lacking the white edges due to age. Hard to see because their size.
Between a Slough and a marsh.
Eastern Pygmy Blue is a quarter of inch larger.
It is actually the smallest butterfly in the world. I remember, however, there was once a report of a smaller one in Asia, but I did not found any other smallest one. The Eastern Pygmy is a tiny little bit larger ;-)...
Bayucca did you know these are the smallest butterflies in North America and maybe the whole world?
Thanks but I think it maybe closer to Western then Eastern but it still lacks the white edges.
Lycaenidae, Polyommatinae, Brephidium pseudofea. But forget about the female... Please, verify!! It is just a shot in the deepest darkness of Californian Blues. But it is in my eyes the only match. Besides I am obviously in a good ID mood at the moment, best to stop. Good Night!

Oh and I know it can't be a Mission Blue. They have a limited range of SF and Marin.
That's a nice female Blue... Sorry can't tell you more than that. Any chance of a view of the underside??
