Cottonmouth

Agkistrodon piscivorus

Description:

Cottonmouths are typically 30 to 48 inches (76 to 122 cm) long, but may grow larger. Adults are typically dark, but younger animals are banded with dark borders with pale centers. A dark line runs through the face.

Habitat:

These venomous snakes are most often found near water such as slow-moving streams, marshes and swamps, including brackish water bodies in southeastern US.
