Japanese cherry blossoms

Description:

Japanese cherry trees belong to the rose family and are known for their masses of white and pink spring blossoms. Many Japanese cherry trees reach 25 feet tall, while others grow to 50 feet tall with a canopy spreading up to 40 feet wide. The picture in this spotting are white cherry blossoms. The Japanese have developed more than 100 varieties of cherry trees, most of them decorative cultivars. The small white flowers of native cherry trees have five petals and dangle in clusters up to 6 inches long.

There are numerous white cherry trees lining the roadways here so beautifully in the Millersville, Maryland, area and provide a very dramatic display for Spring.
