Briza maxima
It is an annual grass from the family Poaceae. It grows to a height of 60 cm, sometimes it is cultivates as an ornamental plant.
It is native to Northern Africa, the Azores, Western Asia and Southern Europe and is cultivated or naturalised in the British Isles, Australasia, the west of the United States, Central and South America and Hawaii.
Other names: Great Quaking Grass, Large Quaking Grass, Quaking Grass, Blowfly Grass, Rattlesnake Grass, Shelly Grass and Shell Grass.
