It is indeed! Since this necrotrophic fungus grows on old fruittrees, especially on Malus (and occasionally on old Fagus), I guess it's vulnerability is due to herbi- and fungicides that keep the appletrees free from parasites. Here it is only found in culture landscapes (also bio-gardens) and open woods.
