Description:

Brightly coloured chomper of plants...as my friends on Noah have pointed out "Not a Pest."I stand corrected.

Notes:

Thanks to all who helped me to ID this and to restore the beetle's good name.

Thanks you NuwanChathurangs, anoorag.saxena and Mark Ridgway...as you may see I have retracted the word pest.

I know it's not a dangerous insect for sure. When I used to live in New Delhi, we used to see a lot of these beetles in Spring...they used to be all over the place and often find their way into our homes.
Sure, it's brightly colored but that could be it's defense mechanism?

There we go. Eats flowers but easily controlled by manual collection. Not a pest at all.

ERRRRR...can't help you in IDing it but I am pretty sure it's just a bettle and not a pest!
