Tamias sibiricus
In the sixties, the Siberian chipmunk was kept captive as a pet in Belgium and other countries. Due to escapes from captivity, you can now see them here in some forests. Let's hope this cute and beautiful animal will not have any negative effects on our nature.

Thank you very much Yuko!:)
Hi Marta!
You can spot them easily in the Zoniënwoud/Foret de soignes next to Brussels! If you go take the metroline hermann debroux you can take a 5 min. walk to the forest where there are big lakes (also a lot of aquatic birds) and if you walk a bit into the forest you have a big chanche to see them! they are not afraid of humans and don't run away:). Really a beautiful place next to the city! Good luck!!!
Lovely series! What a cute chipmunk with the gorgeous stripes!
This is cool! Before coming to live in Belgium I lived in Eastern US for many years and saw them often. Now I always wish I had made a pic of them but thought I could not find them here in Europe.
Can you tell me in which woods here in Belgium are they living?? I would love to go and try to find them :-)
