Eyed Click Beetle

Alaus oculatus

Description:

Approximately 1" in length, black and white coloring.

Notes:

Found this Eyed Click Beetle on a fence in my backyard in Shoreham, NY. He (or she) is the first such beetle that I have spotted in all of the town, so I believe they must be rare around here.
